(Y)Our Home 2019

Two local theatre companies have come together to work on a unique project looking at what has shaped the idea of home for grandchildren and their grandparents. The ‘Baile Project’ is a bi-lingual intergenerational short film made by Brassneck Youth in association with Aisling Ghear Theatre Co.

The film examines the theme of Home from the perspective of a group of 5-7 year olds and their grandparents. The film includes poetry, music, performance and reminiscence with one of our grandparents remembering: “My playground was from Black Mountain to the Bog Meadows!”

Belfast City Council is funding the project as part of their (Y)Our Home Pilot Projects exploring what Home means to people across the city of Belfast.

Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Deirdre Hargey, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile project, it not only provides a valuable insight into the idea of home but being inter-generational is also a historical recollection for older generations.

“Under the ‘Belfast Agenda’ we are committed to being as inclusive as possible and listening to people’s idea about what home means to them is an important part of that – it provides guidance as to what, if any, changes we need to make to continue being a warm, welcoming attractive city in which to live, work and visit.”

The final film was shown in the Cultúrlann on Saturday 6th April.

The Baile Project 2019

Tháinig dhá chomhlacht áitiúla amharclannaíochta le chéile le bheith ag obair le chéile ar thionscadal uathúil le hamharc ar a chruthaigh an tuairim i ngarpháistí agus i seantuismitheoirí ar cad é an rud é an baile. Is gearrscannán dátheanghach idirghlúine an tionscadal Baile, déanta ag Óige Brassneck i gcomhar leis an chomhlacht amharclannaíochta Aisling Ghéar.

Scrúdaíonn an scannán téama an bhaile ó thaobh grúpa do dhaoine idir 5 bliana agus 7 mbliana d’aois agus a seantuismitheoirí. In sa scannán tá filíocht, ceol, léiriú agus cuimhniúchán agus duine dá seantuismitheoirí ag cuimhniú:

“Bhí láthair súgartha s’agamsa idir An Slaibh Dubh agus Cluain an Bhogaigh!” Tá Comhairle Chathrach Bhéal Feirste ag maoiniú an tionscadail mar chuid dá tionscadal (bhur)Ár mBaile, ag fiosrú cad é an rud é Baile do dhaoine ar fud chathair Bhéal Feirste. Dúirt Ardmhéara Bhéal Feirste, Deirdre Hargey, “Ta an-athás orainn tacú le tionscdal fiúntach mar é, ní amháin go dtugann sé léargas luachmhar dúinn ar smaoineamh an bhaile ach mar rud idirghlúine is cuimhne stairiúil dár nglúine aosta í chomh maith.

“Faoi ‘Chlár Bhéal Feirste’ tá muid tiomanta le cinntiú go mbeidh gach duine san áireamh agus is cuid tábhachtach é go n-éistfear le smaointe daoine faoi cad é a chiallaíonn Baile dóibh – tugann sé treoir ar na hathraithe, má tathar de dhíth, a chaithfidh muid a dhéanamh le cathair mhealltach, fháilteach a chruthú ina mbeidh daoine ina gcónaí inti, ag obair inti agus ag tabhairt cuairte uirthi.

Taispeánadh an scannán deiridh sa Chultúrlann ar an Satharn 6ú Aibreán
