About / Eolas

The Irish Language Theatre Company in the North of Ireland. Based in Belfast, it is the resident theatre company in the Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich - an Irish language arts and cultural centre in West Belfast. The company’s mission is to contribute to the development of Irish Language Theatre and the valuable contribution it can make in expanding and enriching the vibrant cultural experience of this country’s unique heritage.

Established in 1997, the company has produced and toured work of consistently high quality from playwrights as diverse as - Machiavelli, WB Yeats, Tom Murphy, Rosemary Jenkinson, Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Eoghan Ó Tuairisc, Brian Friel, Dario Fo, Willy Russell and Marie Jones. We provide a simultaneous translation service from Irish into English for each and every performance by personal headset.

Our highly regarded schools' production of 'An Triail' by Máiréad Ní Ghráda is now firmly set on the schools' calendar, and provides support for teaching staff while offering A-level students the opportunity to experience a quality theatrical production of a timeless Irish language drama.

John Linehan – he said Yes! John aka May McFettridge has graciously agreed to be Aisling Ghear’s Patron. A maestro of comedy with an interest in Irish Language – for quite a few people the Irish language is a treasure; for a lot of people John Linehan is a national treasure!

An Compántas Amharclainne Gaeilge i dTuaisceart na hÉireann. Lonnaithe i mBéal Feirste, is é Aisling Ghéar an compántas amharclainne cónaitheach i gCultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, ionad ealaíon Gaeilge ar Bhóthar na bhFál in Iarthar Bhéal Feirste. Is é misean an chompántais cur le forbairt Amharclann na Gaeilge agus cur dá réir le fairsingiú agus le saibhriú an eispéiris fhuinniúil chultúrtha ar croí-chuid d’oidhreacht uathúil na tíre seo é.

Bunaíodh an compántas in 1997 agus ó shin i leith, léirigh sé agus thug ar chamchuairt saothair d’ardchaighdeán le húdair chomh héagsúil le Machiavelli, WB Yeats, Tom Murphy, Rosemary Jenkinson, Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Eoghan Ó Tuairisc, Brian Friel, Dario Fo, Willy Russell agus Marie Jones. Cuid bhuan den fhéilire scoile anois é ár léiriú ardmholta de ‘An Triail’ le Máiréad Ní Ghráda, léiriú ar taca é ag múinteoirí chomh maith le bheith ina eispéireas amharclainne ardchaighdeáin do scoláirí A-leibhéil.

Tá muid tiomanta don scríbhneoireacht nua Ghaeilge agus go dtí seo, d’fhorbair muid agus léirigh 8 ndráma úra don stáitse.

John Linehan – Sea! a dúirt sé. Thoiligh John, nó May McFettridge mar is fearr aithne air, bheith ina Phátrún ar Aisling Ghéar. Dar lena lán, is seoid náisiúnta é John Linehan, máistir coiméide agus fear a bhfuil an-dúil aige sa Ghaeilge.
