It is 50 years since the Shaw’s Road Gaeltacht was established, when a group of young couples who were passionate about the Irish Language decided to make a momentous decision – to set up the first urban Gaeltacht in the heart of west Belfast! Aisling Ghéar’s show follows one couple as they fall in love, marry and begin their dream of raising their family through Irish and becoming part of the Shaw’s Road Gaeltacht community. You’ll meet a host of other characters, pioneers and bureaucrats and those helped and hindered the success of this unique, hard-working and dedicated community
